Why Did Peter Delete the CCTV Footage on 'Black Lightning'?

After the attack at the march in the latest episode of Black Lightning, Peter Gambi looked for the identity of the man who ordered the hit. CCTV footage showed that it was Tobias Whale, the big boss who believes he's already killed Black Lightning. Rather than share the knowledge with Jeff, Peter chose to delete it. Just why would he do something like that when that knowledge could help protect people?
