While the premiere only showed the guillotine smashing a watermelon, it has to be an example of Chekhov's gun (the principle that if there's a rifle hanging on the wall, it later has to go off.) By season's end, a zombie -- and one that we know -- has to be placed under it. Now, that doesn't mean that the zombie has to be killed by it, but I'd be surprised if at least one (even minor) character isn't threatened.

'iZombie' Theory: Whose Head Will End up Under the Guillotine by the End of Season 4?
While the premiere only showed the guillotine smashing a watermelon, it has to be an example of Chekhov's gun (the principle that if there's a rifle hanging on the wall, it later has to go off.) By season's end, a zombie -- and one that we know -- has to be placed under it. Now, that doesn't mean that the zombie has to be killed by it, but I'd be surprised if at least one (even minor) character isn't threatened.
