The Resident: Renewed for Season 2 at Fox!

There is good news for fans of the Matt Czuchry starring ensemble drama about a hospital with more than its share of problems.

The Resident Season 2 is on its way!

With the many changes that could be afloat given the impending Disney merger, that's a significant boost of confidence for the series that was critically panned, but currently number three on the Fox schedule after only 9-1-1 and Empire.

What Do We Have? - The Resident Season 1 Episode 4

The Resident is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. The series’ executive producers include Todd Harthan, Amy Holden Jones, Rob Corn (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Antoine Fuqua, David Boorstein, Oly Obst, and Phillip Noyce, who also directed the pilot.

The series stars Matt Czuchry Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, Emily VanCamp, Moran Atias, Merrin Dungey, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Melina Kanakaredes.

“Amy, Todd and all the producers on The Resident set out to create a medical show that viewers haven’t seen before – to peel back the curtain and reveal the truth of what happens, both good and bad, behind the scenes at hospitals across the country. Clearly, they’ve succeeded,” said Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.

“Matt, Emily, Bruce, Manish, Shaunette and the show’s entire cast have turned in consistently heartfelt performances, and we are so excited to go back to Chastain Memorial for another tremendous season.”

Things to Discuss - The Resident Season 1 Episode 10

The Resident joins other Fox freshman shows already renewed including 9-1-1, The Orville, and The Gifted.

Empire has also received a renewal for another season as has long-running The Simpsons. With Thursdays going to NFL Football in the fall, that leaves less room for pickups and further renewals that include the following bubble series:

Bob's Burgers, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Exorcist, Family Guy, Gotham, Last Man on Earth, Lethal Weapon, The Mick, Star, Ghosted and LA to Vegas.

Related: The Resident: Why Should Medical Accuracy be Prioritized Over Entertainment?!

Among contention for the roster next season is the possible pickup of formerly canceled ABC series Last Man Standing starring Tim Allen. Given the casting that has yet to gel if it were confirmed, I'd imagine it would be after football season before a return.

On The Resident Season 1 Episode 13, airing tonight, Conrad (Czuchry) and Devon (Dayal) race against the clock to save the life of a woman who is deteriorating fast from undetermined symptoms.

Randolph's Reign - The Resident Season 1 Episode 13

Meanwhile, Bell (Greenwood) must remain calm when Austin (guest star Malcolm-Jamal Warner) impulsively pulls him into a procedure.

Then, tensions rise as Nic (VanCamp) continues her search for evidence to incriminate Lane (Kanakaredes), but must simultaneously tend to her sister, Jessie (guest star Julianna Guill), who is rushed into the ER.

Sweetbitter Interview: Find Out Now Why to Watch the New Starz Series!!

You all remember the class clowns, right?

It turns out they happen to come to the Sweetbitter set in the shape of Paul Sparks, Evan Jonigkeit, and Tom Sturridge.

If you don't believe me, just keep reading and watching.

Sparks plays Howard, the restaurant manager who gives Tess (Ella Purnell) her start despite the fact she has no skills to speak or and no idea how to work in a high scale restaurant.

Jonigkeit is Will, the first person to run into Tess (quite literally) and to take her under his wing. He'll be training her and to that end, he got a very good recommendation from the leading ladies of Sweetbitter.

In fact, he was the only fella to get a shout out at all while we interviewed. Go Evan!!

Sturridge is the bad boy from whom every lady should probably stay away, but to whom Tess is undeniably drawn. Jake also has close ties since childhood to Simone (Caitlyn Fitzgerald) and between the three there is quite an interesting dynamic.

You're not going to get a lot about the show from this interview, but what you will get is what it might be like on set when everyone gets together.

These guys are an open book and their easy banter is nothing like their characters, allowing a fun look at the three before you discover their quirks and trials as Howard, Will, and Jake.

And if you need a reason to watch outside of their winning personalities and incredible talent across the board, the three gentlemen are going to offer to you three unique answers to ensure Sweetbitter makes your must-see list.

They're highly talented, very entertaining, and apparently the first down for a laugh.

Enjoy the chat and be sure to check into the premiere of Sweetbitter Season 1 Episode 1 on Sunday, May 6 at 8/7c.

Don't miss seeing all of these stars behind the camera again in a much different way!

Sweetbitter Interview: Getting to Know the Exciting Side Dishes!

Where would a television series be without its exciting and exotic costars?

Exactly the same place an extravagant dinner would be without its tasty side dishes.

That's why in getting to know costars Jasmine Matthews, Daniyar, and Eden Epstein I wanted to know how they saw their characters by way of what side dish they believed would best exemplify their role.

Matthews plays Heather, a woman she describes as a bit of a mean girl. There is more to her, of course, but as Matthews is also playing one of the Heathers in the upcoming Paramount series, Heathers, you have to wonder if she's being typecast!

Related: Get Starz via Prime Video Channels for Captivating Original Series & Hit Movies!

Daniyar plays a fantastic character called Sasha who instantly discovers himself tied to Ella Purnell's Tess. Sasha is outgoing and emotional in the most unexpected ways and Daniyar brings him to life with playful, electric enthusiasm that is impossible to dismiss.

Epstein's Ariel begins as a bit of an enigma. She spends a lot of time trying to hide her true self from those around her, but she's bursting at the seams trying to get out, so Ariel isn't unknown for long.

The three characters shape Tess in ways she doesn't recognize at first, being so captivated by Caitlyn Fitzgerald's Simone and some of the fellas at the restaurant, but listen to the interview below.

These actors are as tuned into their characters and Tess as their characters are to Tess.

Don't forget to tune into Sweetbitter's premiere on Stars May 6 at 8/7c. It's a sensory experience about life not letting life pass you by you don't want to miss!

Sweetbitter: The Leading Ladies on Character, Place, and Style

Sweetbitter creator and executive producer Stephanie Danler feels like she's just a hired expert on the topic now that she's seen her project come to life.

In the interview below, she talks about the process of portraying everything just right for an on-screen five-star restaurant, including putting her cast and crew through a boot camp getting them up to speed.

Purnell plays Tess, a young woman with dreams of life in the Big City.

When she gets to New York with few skills applicable to jobs for which she applies, she's given a break by a man more interested in her personality and how well she'll train than what she has already accomplished.

Related: Get Starz via Prime Video Channels for Captivating Original Series & Hit Movies!

That brings Tess into the same circle as Fitzgerald's Simone, who appears to be everything Tess aspires to be herself.

Thus begins a complex relationship between the two women at different stages in their lives, giving both Purnell and Fitzgerald the opportunity to showcase their talents at their most captivating. While there are surely men in the picture, it's the women in Sweetbitter across the board who steal the show.

Find out in the interview below who was the best and who was the worst when it came to playing restaurant, how much of Danler's real life crept into her script and more.

Most of all, be sure to tune into Sweetbitter when it premieres on Starz Sunday, May 6 at 8/7c.

The Sinner Season 2 Lands Carrie Coon to Star Opposite Bill Pullman

Jessica Biel took our breath away with her performance in The Sinner Season 1.

Now one of the best actresses available, Carrie Coon, leads a trio of women cast opposite Bill Pullman for The Sinner Season 2.

Biel will still be on board in an executive producer capacity, and joining Coon in front of the camera will be Natalie Paul and Hannah Gross.

Carrie Coon

Coon most recently starred in critically acclaimed roles on HBO's The Leftovers and FX's Fargo.

Paul is known for her work on HBO's The Deuce and Gross appeared on the Netflix hit, Mindhunters.

The Sinner Season 2 will focus on Pullman's character, Harry Ambrose, who is pulled back to his hometown in rural New York to investigate an unsettling and heart-wrenching crime — parents murdered by their 11-year-old son, with no apparent motive.

As Ambrose realizes there’s nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, the investigation pulls him into the hidden darkness of his hometown.

The Truth Is Out There - The Sinner Season 1 Episode 3

He’s pitted against those who’ll stop at nothing to protect its secrets — and a mysterious woman who proves to be a complicated, enigmatic piece to this haunting puzzle.

According to THR, Coon will star as Vera, is the formidable and de facto leader of a mysterious commune that will play a critical role in season two.

Vera is a spiritual seeker who has turned her back on the world and passionately dedicated herself to creating a utopia and upholding its ideals.

What she believes to be an enlightened community, others see as a cult, and she will have to utilize her grit and cunning to fight battles, both personal and cultural, that pull her in all directions.

It sure sounds like she's responsible for the darkness that has overtaken Pullman's hometown, and if there's anything more fascinating than a cult, it would be one with a woman at the helm.

Natalie Paul Hannah Gross

Paul will play Heather, a detective in training from Ambrose’s hometown. She will be the person who calls on Ambrose for help in the highly distressing double homicide.

Gross will play Marin, Heather’s high school best friend and someone who disappeared from town years ago in a cloud of mystery.

What are the odds she's somewhere with Vera either trying to live up to her utopian expectations or having failed and giving her fresh gardens much-needed fertilizer?

The Sinner was one of USA's most well-received shows of 2017 as well as a critical hit, receiving Golden Globes and Critics' Choice nominations.

American Woman Official Trailer: A Mind of Her Own

If you love watching the true life stories of Kyle and Kim Richards unfold on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, then you don't want to miss out on how their own mother, also a real housewife of Beverly Hills, got her groove on in '70s.

When I was little, I wanted to be Kim Richards. She was the more prolific of the two sisters at the time, and we didn't know where she was going to be in the future. Her blonde hair was gorgeous! Give a little girl a break!

Now, I want to go back in time and see what it was like to be their mom. Her life looks like it was a lot of fun, and who doesn't want to step into the wild life of a woman in the '70s if even just for a little while?

The clothes, the typewriters (I have one just for fun!), the parties!!

There isn't a single thing about American Woman that isn't screaming WATCH ME.

Inspired by the real-life upbringing of co-executive producer Kyle Richards, American Woman follows Bonnie (Alicia Silverstone), an unconventional mother struggling to raise her two daughters after leaving her husband amid the rise of second-wave feminism in 1970s Los Angeles.

Bonnie also comes to rely on the help of her two best friends, Kathleen (Mena Suvari) and Diana (Jennifer Bartels), as they each discover their own brand of independence in a glamorous and ever-changing world reluctant to give it.

The series also stars Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story, 30 Rock) and James Tupper (Big Little Lies, Revenge.)

Who is aching to see this? Will this be perfect summer entertainment or what?

American Woman premieres on Paramount Network Thursday, June 7 at 10/9c. Be there or be square!!

The 100 Best Scenes From The 100

We're already into The 100 Season 5 and throughout the years it has managed to stand out because of the different highlights in the series. From well-written characters to chaotic arcs to stunning worldbuilding, it is safe to say that the show has a little bit of everything.

And that is exactly what we as fans remember, there are plenty of moments that have stuck with us well after the episode ended.

The bonds that were formed with a collection of different scenes happened to cover just about every emotion possible.

So in honor of the brand new season with The 100 Season 5 Episode 1 already aired, that has reintroduced us to all our favorite characters after a six-year time jump, here is a slideshow of 100 best scenes from the last four seasons of The 100.

And don't forget that you can watch The 100 online, right here on TV Fanatic.

1. The six year long Bellarke hug on "Praimfaya"

Number 57 the six year long bellarke hug in praimfaya
This hug was meant to keep both Bellarke and us sane during the entire time jump. Six years is a long time though which means we are all overdue for another one. Also what is it about these two that makes them cling to one another like two gummy bears on a hot summer day?

2. Luna and Raven Reyes comfort cuddling on "We Will Rise"

Luna and raven we will rise
Raven Reyes pulls pretty ladies her way without even trying but Luna cuddling her while whispering about the sea was on another level. The scene itself is nothing I would ever call straight but to each their own.

3. The Skaikru finding a moment of happiness on "Wanheda Part One"

The skaikru finding a moment of happiness in wanheda part one
Season 3 wasn't exactly a lighthearted story of survival, so this scene in the beginning was a nice calm before the storm. There is nothing quite like watching your favorites sing and laugh with one another.

4. Lexa and Roan invent fighting sequences on "Watch The Thrones"

Number 15 lexa and roan invent fighting sequences in watch the t
There is epic swordfighting and then there is Lexa and Roan taking it to the next level. Sometimes you just need to watch two people fighting and laugh at that killer ending.

5. Bellamy Blake and Marcus Kane support turning into painful reminders on "Gimme Shelter"

Number 9 bellamy blake and marcus kane support turning into pain
Kane thought he was about to win the best dad award but instead Bellamy turned on the comfort that was offered to him so that he could remind Kane that their history isn't all hugs and support. Bellamy calling Kane out for being the one to float his mother is a throwback to the fact that no matter how far some relationships have come, there are still wounds that are fresh.

6. Octavia Blake not adjusting too well to farmer life on "DNR"

Number 60 octavia blake reinvented
Remember that time when Octavia tried to pretend that she was just living the cute Instagram life filled with nature, gardening, and a cute boyfriend? Yeah, she doesn't either because that ended just as quickly as it had started.

Arrow Season 6 Episode 20 Review: Shifting Allegiances

With Oliver on his own, the rest of masked avengers in Star City are in need of help.

That means that on Arrow Season 6 Episode 20 most of the animosity between everyone is being set aside in a way.

Rene gets out of the hospital, and even though things were not the best with Diggle during the split, Diggle is being the bigger man and lending an assist now that he's with ARGUS.

Diggle and NTA - Arrow Season 6 Episode 20

You know what? I'm glad. Holding a grudge isn't helpful. It's not helpful on the show, and it's not helping out here in the real world.

There is so much animosity when it comes to Arrow flowing in so many different directions, if anyone is willing to set aside their petty behavior, it can only lead to something good down the road.

John's doing a bang-up job at ARGUS, and the people he reports to (under Lyla) treat him with respect. They aren't in it with a strange agenda to rid the world of evil because they were on an island or their boyfriend was killed by someone or any other personal reasons we are reminded about too often.

Related: The CW Renewals: Riverdale, Dynasty, The Flash & 7 More!!!

At least not that we know about at this point. And in a professional organization like ARGUS, Diggle shouldn't have to listen to that kind of suffering. People like that don't make the best soldiers, and if they weren't weeded out, they are probably on the Suicide Squad.

And let's be real here, Diaz is a dirty bastard that needs to be stopped. I can't think of a worse time than now for Oliver to attempt going it on his own. I appreciate his desire to stop the guy, but allowing Felicity and William to sit home and worry when he's up against Diaz is almost cruel.

Adrian Chase was a fantastic villain. He brought a lot of life and energy to Arrow Season 5. Watching him wasn't painful in any way. The same cannot be said about Diaz.

Battling Diaz - Arrow

It's not a knock about Kirk Acevedo but Diaz himself. As Laurel described him, Diaz is a monster. He's not filled with anger and hate; he's inhuman. Watching Diaz burn that man alive made her realize exactly what she was up against, and she wasn't going to be able to sway him in any direction he didn't want to go.

She can't protect anybody by helping Diaz, but she sure as hell can watch as he kills others.

Related: Arrow: Who's Returning?!

It was cool of Lance to take a step back and see the parallels between what he did with Damien Dahrk and what Laurel is doing with Diaz now. Casting stones at Black Siren is easy. She had made a lot of missteps.

But so have a lot of other characters. Lance is one of the few who is willing to apply his past to the current situation of others, and it's admirable.

A Betrayal? - Arrow Season 6 Episode 20

Oliver was hoping he could enlist an old friend on his quest to take down Diaz, but instead discovered another one who jumped when Diaz called. He incites fear in everyone around him. Even Anatoly.

Oliver made an around-the-world journey to ensure he could get Anatoly what he wanted most -- the opportunity to return to the Bratva. Suddenly he doesn't want it anymore? The odds are pretty slim unless you take into consideration whatever Diaz promised to do to him if Anatoly didn't join him.

Oliver got the opportunity to fight face-to-face with Diaz and Oliver didn't play Diaz's game. Maybe he didn't keep track of the trail of death in Diaz's path, but letting Oliver get up off the ground only occurred because he's the star of the show.

Related: Burden of Truth: Kristin Kreuk Fronted Legal Drama Picked Up at The CW!

Diaz kills because he can. Oliver could have broken Diaz's neck and been done with it, but he gave Diaz an opportunity to respond, and the killer pulled a knife on him.

They should have been fighting naked. Even then it would have been difficult to trust Diaz, but the odds would have been better. It would have been more entertaining for the viewer, too.

Betrayed by an Old Friend - Arrow Season 6 Episode 20

As it stands, Diaz double-crossed Oliver anyway. Doesn't anybody read papers before they sign them? I guess whatever Laurel delivered to Lance had nothing to do with land and everything to do Lance unknowingly revoking Oliver's bail and moving up his trial.

Diggle may not be ready to join with the rest of the un-Arrowed masked avengers of Star City, but he'll have to work with them and ARGUS to do something to stop Diaz while Oliver is in prison.

With Laurel the prosecution's best witness, it seems like she might call in a favor so whatever she says on the stand not only holds weight but allows Oliver to go free with another familiar (if deceased) Star City face to take over the guise of the Green Arrow.

Related: Get CBS All Access via Prime Video Channels for Hit Shows, Exclusive Originals & Live TV!

It's a pretty neat twist if that's how it goes down and will do a lot to help with Laurel's redemption. Even Oliver's face looked befuddled at that reveal.

Laurel's been treated decently for the first time in her life, and even if she's been at Diaz's side while he's done some awful stuff recently, it's looking like she can be trusted for real. She has learned over the years how to protect herself, though, and that means fooling even the best when making them guess on whose side she falls.

View Slideshow: DC TV Photos: Gypsy Returns, Lance Learns The Truth & So Much More!

Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about Rene. Diggle was very cool with a guy he didn't need to help at all, and that's why we love him. He helped Rene get a handle on being a father and an avenger, and now Rene's daughter can continue being proud of her dad for some time to come.

Leave it to the kids to know who's out busting crime in the city even if fellow adults can't grasp the concept.

Arrow Season 6 Episode 21 looks like a big one, so be sure to tune in! If you need to catch up, you can watch Arrow online for all the latest.

Yellowstone Official Trailer: A Family at War in Upcoming Paramount Network Series

Starring world-renowned actor and Oscar-winner Kevin Costner, who serves in the lead role, Yellowstone is written and directed by critically-acclaimed, Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan.

The trailer gives us a much better look at what to expect from the series, and it's a family at war with each other as they fight everyone who wants to take away from them what they've fought hard to sustain -- the largest contiguous ranch in the United States.

Yellowstone stars Costner as John Dutton, who controls the ranch, which is under constant attack by those it borders -- land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park.

Now a grandfather who would rather spend his time making up for past mistakes, he's instead forced into new sins that he fears more than anything he's ever done as he hopes to keep the life he loves from disintegrating before his eyes.

It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny -- where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations.

Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier.

It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.

Related: Yellowstone at Paramount Network with Kevin Costner and Wes Bentley: First Look!!

Just listen to the dialog written for the cast. There are some great quotes coming from the trailer, so you can imagine what lies ahead when the entire saga begins to play out before us.

There is also a lot of star power on board to bring the story to life.

The impressive cast list for Yellowstone includes Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Dave Annable, Danny Huston, Gil Birmingham, Josh Lucas, Jefferson White, Gretchen Mol, Jill Hennessey, Patrick St. Esprit, Ian Bohen, Heather Hemmons, Michaela Conlin, and Denim Richards.

Yellowstone premieres on Paramount June 20th.

The Rain Official Trailer: Don't Go in the Water!!

We're being treated to another trailer for Netflix's upcoming foreign language series, The Rain.

A post-apocalyptic thriller, this one is set in Scandinavia and follows two Danish teens who, when a brutal virus kills most of the people after what has always before been a refreshing rain, emerge from a bunker six years later.

And YES, I have verified with Netflix that you will have the option of watching a dubbed series in ENGLISH, just as you could their previous foreign-language hit, Dark, so don't let the subtitles put you off.

The truth of the matter is something is lost in translation whether you watch subtitles or dubbed versions, so beat yourself up if you choose one over the other.

Related: The 100 Season 5 Preview: Welcome Back, Nothing is How You Left It

It doesn't make you a bad person to choose dubbed, as long as you give foreign-language created television a chance. Maybe you'll love it enough to watch it a second time through with the subtitles to get the full experience of both visions.

Personally, I love trying to learn a few words of a new language through subtitles. It probably doesn't work like that, but it's worth a shot.

That's especially true when something looks as good as The Rain

Rain has always been known to wash away the evils of the world, not bring them to the masses.

One shot in the trailer has me particularly curious about the survival of the group and worried over their future. I'm expecting part The 100 part Lord of the Flies as a band of youths, set free from their collective past and societal rules, has the freedom to be who they want to be.

In their struggle for survival, they discover that even in a post-apocalyptic world there’s still love, jealousy, and many of the coming of age dilemmas they thought they’d left behind with the disappearance of the world they once knew.

Be sure to watch the trailer in its entirety and pray for sunny skies when The Rain drops on Netflix May 4, 2018.

Grey's Anatomy Renewed for Season 15!!

It's time to lay some hearty congratulations at the feet of Grey's Anatomy.

They can now lay claim to being ABC's longest running drama series!!

Let the celebration begin, Grey's fans. I have no doubt all of you had a lot to do with this wonderful news.

Celebrations and Good Times - Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Episode 12

Until this renewal, Ozzy and Harriet was the longest-runninging series on ABC, but hardly the longest running series on television.

While Grey's will now be tied with ER for the longest-running medical drama, Gunsmoke, Law & Order and its SVU spinoff, NCIS, CSI, and Bonanza have all run longer across the dial than Grey's over the years and networks.

Still, that's little reason to quibble this amazing news for Grey's fans!

The cast has changed vastly over the seasons, but there are still characters remaining from Grey's Anatomy Season 1, including the titular character Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), and Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.).

The renewal should really come as no surprise, as Pompeo last year signed a two-year deal that made her the highest paid actress on a drama series on TV.

Pompeo has always been the deciding factor as far as series creator, Shonda Rhimes, is concerned. She was known to say the show would go on as long as Pompeo wanted to continue the role.

Now a wife and mother, it seems a lovely way for a star to make a television star to make a living, but if Pompeo ever wants a challenge beyond that which Meredith finds inside the hallowed halls of the hospital she knows so well, that may be the end of Grey's as we know it.

Still, receiving the official word is always a comfort.

A Merry Mer and Jo

By the end of Grey's Anatomy Season 14, two characters will have left the series. both Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and April (Sarah Drew) will have been written out of the show.

Fans have been trying to determine how that might happen, but it's anybody's guess what will happen until the time comes.

"Grey's Anatomy' has a special place in my heart and millions of viewers feel the same way," ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said.

"Thanks to fiercely loyal fans who have been on this journey since the beginning, and new generations of viewers who continue to discover the joy and drama of Grey Sloan Memorial, the show is as strong as ever."
