ABC may be trying something new with Dancing with the Stars Season 26, but it did not result in improved ratings.
The premiere secured 8.5 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. This was down 30 percent in the demo from September's premiere.
The Crossing (3.8 million/0.5 rating) hit series lows with decreased lead-in support.
Fox: Lucifer (2.8 million/0.6 rating) slumped to a new low in the demo while The Resident (3.9 million/0.8 rating) inched down.
NBC: The Voice (8.7 million/1.6 rating) inched up while Good Girls (4.3 million/0.9 rating) was stable.
CBS: Kevin Can Wait (5 million/0.8 rating) and Superior Donuts (4.1 million/0.7 rating) were down, while Man With a Plan (4.8 million/0.8 rating) was steady.
Elementary (4.7 million/0.6 rating) returned for a new season and was right on par with its Season 5 average.
The CW: Supergirl (1.5 million/0.5 rating) recovered slightly while iZombie (0.7 million/0.2 rating) was stable.
