Every episode of The Flash Barry Allen introduces himself to the audience as "the fastest man alive," suggesting this why he's the main hero. This is, quite simply, false. Barry being wrong isn't just about the fact that for three seasons, Barry literally wasn't the fastest man alive. (The villains of seasons 1 through 3 were always faster than Barry.) Barry's incorrect because speed has little to do with what makes him an interesting hero. Barry's greatest ability isn't the way he's able to move his legs, but how he uses his brain.
